Miami Gardens, Florida — The NFL has officially entered the center of a heated controversy after the joint practice between the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants turned into one of the most chaotic training camp sessions of the season.
What was expected to be a high-intensity preparation ahead of their preseason matchup quickly descended into a series of heated confrontations, multiple fights, and emotional outbursts that forced coaches from both teams to repeatedly intervene.
According to reports from the practice field, the combination of extreme Florida heat and rising competitive tension pushed players from both sides beyond the limits of normal football intensity.
The conflict began during individual drills before eventually spreading into full-team periods, creating a chaotic atmosphere that lasted throughout the session.
The NFL is now reviewing footage from the practice while determining whether additional discipline will be necessary.
The first major incident occurred during 1-on-1 drills between the offensive and defensive units.
Giants rookie defender Abdul Carter became involved in a physical battle with Dolphins offensive lineman Patrick Paul after the two players became tangled during the rep.
As emotions escalated, Carter reportedly swung his arm and struck Paul, immediately triggering reactions from players on both sidelines.
Coaches quickly stepped in to separate the two players before the situation could escalate further.
However, the tension between the two teams continued to build.

The second major confrontation happened later during 11-on-11 team drills.
Dolphins offensive tackle Austin Jackson was involved in another heated exchange with Giants defensive star Kayvon Thibodeaux.
According to reports, Jackson appeared to intentionally slap Thibodeaux in the face during the play.
Thibodeaux immediately responded by pushing Jackson to the ground, causing players from both teams to rush toward the scene.
The Dolphins coaching staff eventually removed Jackson from that period of practice, ending his participation in the drill.
The incident further intensified the already heated environment between the two organizations.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">HUGE brawl just broke out at joint practice between the Giants and Dolphins — and Jameis Winston was right at the center of it.<br><br>A skirmish broke out, and Winston ran in and just decked a Dolphins player😂<br><br>That sparked a much larger brawl <a href="https://t.co/aGNmhcbccP">pic.twitter.com/aGNmhcbccP</a></p>— Anthony Rivardo (@Anthony_Rivardo) <a href="https://x.com/Anthony_Rivardo/status/2090458111337213977?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">August 20, 2026</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.x.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
But the most chaotic moment came during the final major confrontation of the day.
A massive fight erupted between the Giants offensive line and Dolphins defensive unit, turning the practice field into a scene of complete disorder.
Players from both teams rushed into the confrontation as coaches attempted to regain control.
The situation reportedly lasted nearly 10 minutes before finally being contained.
Several players had to be separated, while staff members from both organizations stepped onto the field to prevent the situation from becoming even more serious.
The confrontation became even more dramatic when Giants backup quarterback Jameis Winston repeatedly moved into the crowd of players while arguing during the chaos.
During the disorder, Winston was reportedly struck by a Dolphins defender, resulting in a neck injury that could potentially force him to miss the upcoming preseason matchup between the two teams on August 22.
The NFL is currently reviewing the incident and evaluating possible discipline for the Dolphins player involved in the alleged punch.
Following the practice, league officials began collecting video evidence and speaking with representatives from both teams.
The NFL has not announced any financial penalties for either organization at this time.
However, two players involved in the earliest and most significant incidents are reportedly facing possible suspensions.
Those players are Abdul Carter of the New York Giants and Austin Jackson of the Miami Dolphins.
League officials have not made a final decision regarding the length or severity of any potential punishment.
But sources around the league believe both players could be forced to miss the upcoming preseason matchup as the NFL continues reviewing the altercations.
For the Dolphins and Giants, the joint practice was supposed to be an opportunity to evaluate young talent, build chemistry, and prepare for the regular season.
Instead, it became a reminder of how quickly competitive intensity can cross the line during training camp.
The NFL’s final decision could determine whether additional suspensions or fines are issued.
But one thing is already clear:
The Dolphins-Giants joint practice will be remembered not for the plays made on the field, but for the chaos that unfolded when emotions boiled over.
