Just 12 Hours After Being “Forced” to Join the 49ers to Make Room for Star RB Zamir White, Pro Bowl Veteran Expresses Disappointment — Rejects Apology from Star Alvin Kamara, Receives Forgiveness from New Orleans Community

Just 12 hours after the trade was announced, Deion Jones spoke out. The Pro Bowl veteran could not hide his disappointment at having to leave New Orleans for the San Francisco 49ers.

According to sources citing Adam Schefter, the Saints traded Jones for running back Zamir White. The move came at a time when the team was facing a serious shortage at the running back position.

Alvin Kamara is expected to miss at least one month with an MCL injury. Devin Neal and Kendre Miller are also dealing with health issues. New Orleans needed an experienced running back immediately.

Zamir White became a suitable option. He has a strong build and reliable between-the-tackles running ability. Meanwhile, the 49ers were willing to part with White to gain defensive experience from Jones.

Jones had previously developed under Raheem Morris with the Atlanta Falcons. Now he will reunite with Morris, who currently serves as the 49ers’ defensive coordinator. Many expect him to adapt quickly.

But for Jones, leaving the Saints was not easy. He publicly expressed his disappointment. “I didn’t want to leave like this,” sources quoted him as saying.

When Alvin Kamara offered an apology for unintentionally becoming the reason for the trade, Jones rejected it. He believed the decision belonged to the organization, not to any individual player.

The New Orleans community reacted unexpectedly. Instead of criticism, many fans showed understanding and forgiveness. They remembered the years Jones had given and the moments he played with full effort.

On social media, numerous messages were sent to Jones. Fans thanked him for his professionalism and wished him success in San Francisco.

The trade shows both teams are adjusting their rosters ahead of the season. The Saints addressed their running back crisis, while the 49ers added depth to their defense.

For Deion Jones, this is an emotional new chapter. He left with disappointment, yet still received respect from the city he once called home.
