PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania — The Pittsburgh Steelers have adjusted ticket distribution plans for their upcoming "Friday Night Lights" practice event.
For years, the Steelers have hosted a special public practice known as "Friday Night Lights" during training camp. The event has long served as one of the organization's most popular community traditions, giving Steelers Nation an opportunity to connect with the team before the start of the season.
The event has been especially important for fans who are unable to make the trip to training camp or regular season games.
With a new season approaching at Acrisure Stadium, however, the tradition is also undergoing significant changes.
Earlier this offseason, the Steelers announced that the 2026 edition of "Friday Night Lights" would no longer be open to the general public.
Instead, attendance would initially be limited exclusively to season ticket holders.
The decision generated mixed reactions among the fan base.
Many supporters viewed the move as a reasonable way to reward season ticket holders for their long term financial commitment to the franchise.
Others argued that it risked excluding loyal fans who have supported the team for years but cannot afford season tickets.
As debate continued, questions emerged about whether non season ticket holders would have any opportunity to attend one of the team's most beloved summer events.
According to Steelers ownership, the organization has now created a pathway for thousands of additional fans to gain access.
Owner Art Rooney II confirmed that approximately 5,000 complimentary tickets will be made available through a special fan appreciation initiative.
The program is specifically designed to recognize dedicated supporters who have attended Steelers games at Acrisure Stadium over multiple seasons.
To qualify, fans must present three game tickets from three different seasons at Acrisure Stadium.
Both traditional paper tickets and mobile ticket records will be accepted as proof of attendance.
Eligible fans will receive one complimentary admission ticket to the "Friday Night Lights" event at Acrisure Stadium.
In addition to event access, qualifying fans will also receive a commemorative 2026 Pittsburgh Steelers jersey celebrating the team's new season and its connection to Steelers Nation.
The Steelers believe the program creates an opportunity for longtime supporters to experience one of the franchise's most meaningful traditions regardless of season ticket status.
For many fans, the initiative represents a compromise between rewarding season ticket holders and preserving the community spirit that has defined the event for years.
As anticipation continues to build around training camp, thousands of Steelers supporters may now have a chance to witness the team under the lights while celebrating the loyalty, passion, and history that helped build Steelers Nation.
