LOS ANGELES, California — The atmosphere around the Los Angeles Dodgers became quiet after the team received unwanted news regarding the condition of Shohei Ohtani, the star considered the heart of their World Series ambitions.
After their dominant 14 1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds, the Dodgers believed they could continue maintaining their strong momentum before entering the most important stage of the season.
However, the joy of victory was quickly overshadowed when manager Dave Roberts confirmed that the team would place Ohtani on the injured list due to an issue with his right arm.
The decision caused many Dodgers fans to become concerned, because the team initially viewed it as only minor discomfort and hoped he could quickly return to normal competition.
But after several days of monitoring, the coaching staff realized the Japanese superstar’s condition was not as simple as expected, forcing them to make a safer decision.
Ohtani has missed 6 of the Dodgers’ last 7 games because of discomfort in his right arm, directly affecting his ability to maintain his offensive performance in the Dodgers lineup.
The issue first appeared after an incident at Dodger Stadium, when Ohtani showed signs of pain in his arm following a swing, immediately forcing the medical staff to begin monitoring his condition.

Although he previously returned to the lineup and attempted to play through the issue, his performance did not reach his best level, leading the Dodgers to understand that continuing to use him could create major risks.
Dave Roberts admitted this was a difficult decision, but the team did not want to gamble with the health of their most important player during their postseason pursuit.
“We tried to extend the timeline as much as we possibly could. But at this point, putting him on the injured list is the right thing to do to make sure Shohei can return in the best possible condition.”
Losing Ohtani during the final stretch of the season is a major blow for the Dodgers, especially as the team enters the decisive race toward their championship goal.
However, Roberts remains optimistic, believing that Ohtani has a chance to return before the playoffs begin if the recovery process goes smoothly.
The Dodgers manager revealed that if tomorrow was a playoff game, Ohtani would still have a chance to play, but the team wants to give him additional time to reach a more stable physical condition.
According to the plan, Ohtani will become eligible to return after spending a minimum of 15 days on the injured list, creating hope for a comeback before October.
While waiting for the return of their offensive superstar, the Dodgers decided to call up young talent Josue De Paula from Double A to the major league roster to add more strength.
This is viewed as a bold move by Los Angeles as they give an opportunity to one of the organization’s brightest prospects during a period of increasing pressure.
Ohtani’s absence has made the entire Dodgers clubhouse understand that they must be more united than ever if they want to maintain their position as a top championship contender.
His teammates are reportedly praying and hoping that the two way superstar can quickly recover and return to the field during the most important moment of the season.
For the Dodgers, this is not only a loss in terms of roster depth but also the biggest test of their lineup strength before entering the postseason battle.
Because if Ohtani returns at the right time, Los Angeles will still possess the most dangerous weapon on their journey toward a World Series championship.
