ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills have adjusted ticket distribution plans for their upcoming "Return of the Red and Blue" practice event.
For years, the Bills have hosted a free public practice known as "Return of the Red and Blue" during training camp at St. John Fisher University. The event has long served as one of the organization's most popular community traditions, giving Bills Mafia an opportunity to connect with the team before the start of the season.
The event has been especially important for fans who are unable to make the trip to Pittsford, located more than an hour east of Buffalo.
With a new era beginning at New Highmark Stadium, however, the tradition is also undergoing significant changes.
Earlier this offseason, the Bills announced that the 2026 edition of "Return of the Red and Blue" would no longer be open to the general public.
Instead, attendance would initially be limited exclusively to season ticket holders.
The decision generated mixed reactions among the fan base.
Many supporters viewed the move as a reasonable way to reward season ticket holders for their long term financial commitment to the franchise.
Others argued that it risked excluding loyal fans who have supported the team for years but cannot afford season tickets.
As debate continued, questions emerged about whether non season ticket holders would have any opportunity to attend the first major public event at New Highmark Stadium.
According to Bills Chief Operating Officer Pete Guelli, the organization has now created a pathway for thousands of additional fans to gain access.
Guelli confirmed that approximately 5,000 complimentary tickets will be made available through a special fan appreciation initiative.
The program is specifically designed to recognize dedicated supporters who have attended games at the original Highmark Stadium over multiple seasons.
To qualify, fans must present three game tickets from three different seasons at the old Highmark Stadium.
Both traditional paper tickets and mobile ticket records will be accepted as proof of attendance.
Eligible fans will receive one complimentary admission ticket to the "Return of the Red and Blue" event at New Highmark Stadium.
In addition to event access, qualifying fans will also receive a commemorative 2026 Buffalo Bills jersey celebrating the organization's inaugural season in the new stadium.
The Bills believe the program creates an opportunity for longtime supporters to experience the franchise's next chapter regardless of season ticket status.
For many fans, the initiative represents a compromise between rewarding season ticket holders and preserving the community spirit that has defined the event for years.
As anticipation continues to build around the opening of New Highmark Stadium, thousands of Bills supporters may now have a chance to witness the beginning of a new era while celebrating memories from the stadium that helped build Bills Mafia.
