Adam Schefter Confirms the Only Wide Receiver in NFL History With 21 Rushing Touchdowns Is Heading to Indianapolis on a $28 Million Deal, Calling the Colts the Final Stop of His NFL Career

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — The Indianapolis Colts have made one of the most intriguing moves of the summer by adding another experienced weapon to their offense.
Preview

According to league sources, the organization has placed its trust in a veteran playmaker who helped redefine what an NFL wide receiver can be.

The reported deal is worth $28 million and reflects Indianapolis' determination to compete immediately in a loaded AFC.

That player is Deebo Samuel, one of the most versatile offensive weapons the NFL has seen over the past decade.

At 30 years old, Samuel begins a new chapter after entering free agency earlier this offseason.

Several teams were reportedly monitoring his situation closely throughout the spring and early summer.

In the end, Indianapolis emerged as the destination that made the most sense for both sides.

The Colts possess the financial flexibility and young core needed to maximize Samuel's remaining prime years.

Team decision makers believe his experience and unique skill set can provide an immediate boost to the offense.

What separates Samuel from traditional receivers is his ability to impact games in multiple ways.

Throughout his career, he has consistently created problems for defenses as both a receiver and ball carrier.

Samuel remains the only wide receiver in NFL history to record at least 20 receiving touchdowns and 20 rushing touchdowns.

He currently owns 27 receiving touchdowns and 21 rushing touchdowns during his NFL career.

That accomplishment alone places him among the most unique players ever to line up at the position.

Beyond scoring production, Samuel built his reputation through his elite yards after catch ability.

The 2021 season represented the peak of his career, earning both First Team All Pro and Pro Bowl honors.

That year, Samuel recorded 1,405 receiving yards and set a single season rushing touchdown record for wide receivers.

Through the conclusion of the 2025 season, he accumulated 406 receptions, 5,519 receiving yards, and 6,737 total yards from scrimmage.

Those numbers help explain why Indianapolis believes he still has meaningful value despite entering his thirties.

If everything unfolds as expected, Deebo Samuel could become the final offensive piece that helps push the Colts closer to Super Bowl contention in the years ahead.

Indianapolis Colts Free Entry Requirements for the Team’s "Primetime Practices" Program at Lucas Oil Stadium After Previously Restricting the Initiative to Season Ticket Holders
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — The Indianapolis Colts have adjusted ticket distribution plans for their upcoming "Primetime Practices" event. For years, the Colts have hosted special public practice events during training camp. The program has long served as one of the organization’s most popular community traditions, giving Colts Nation an opportunity to connect with the team before the start of the season. The event has been especially important for fans who are unable to regularly attend training camp or regular season games. With a new season approaching at Lucas Oil Stadium, however, the tradition is also undergoing significant changes. Earlier this offseason, the Colts announced that the 2026 edition of "Primetime Practices" would no longer be open to the general public. Instead, attendance would initially be limited exclusively to season ticket holders. The decision generated mixed reactions among the fan base. Many supporters viewed the move as a reasonable way to reward season ticket holders for their long term financial commitment to the franchise. Others argued that it risked excluding loyal fans who have supported the team for years but cannot afford season tickets. As debate continued, questions emerged about whether non season ticket holders would have any opportunity to attend one of the team’s most anticipated summer events. According to Colts ownership, the organization has now created a pathway for thousands of additional fans to gain access. Owner Jim Irsay confirmed that approximately 5,000 complimentary tickets will be made available through a special fan appreciation initiative. The program is specifically designed to recognize dedicated supporters who have attended Colts games at Lucas Oil Stadium over multiple seasons. To qualify, fans must present three game tickets from three different seasons at Lucas Oil Stadium. Both traditional paper tickets and mobile ticket records will be accepted as proof of attendance. Eligible fans will receive one complimentary admission ticket to the "Primetime Practices" event at Lucas Oil Stadium. In addition to event access, qualifying fans will also receive a commemorative 2026 Indianapolis Colts jersey celebrating the team’s new season and its connection to Colts Nation. The Colts believe the program creates an opportunity for longtime supporters to experience one of the franchise’s most meaningful traditions regardless of season ticket status. For many fans, the initiative represents a compromise between rewarding season ticket holders and preserving the community spirit that has defined the event for years. As anticipation continues to build around training camp, thousands of Colts supporters may now have a chance to watch the team under the bright lights while celebrating the loyalty, passion, and history that helped build Colts Nation.
